Agile Project Management

Objective: Equip team leaders and project managers will with skills to run Agile projects and teams.

More and more organizations are adopting Agile software development to deliver their projects. However there is more to managing an Agile project than declaring the project Agile. This course will provide attendees with the knowledge and skills necessary to allow their companies to benefit from Agile Software Development.

As a 1-day workshop this course serves as an introduction to Agile development, the expanded 2 day version provides more depth on these topics. Attendance is limited to a maximum of 12 people.

Who should attend?

Those responsible for delivering software development projects:
  • Project Managers, Team Leaders and other responsible for delivery.
  • Software Engineers and Testers who will be working in Agile teams.

What will I learn?

At the end of this workshop attendees will understand how to run an successful Agile Software Development project. This will include:
  • Managing and improving Agile teams and projects.
  • The roles and process flow in an Agile team.
  • How to manage and prioritise requirements on Agile projects.
  • The similarities and differences between PRINCE2 and the Agile approach.

What subjects are covered?

The workshop content is flexible and will follow the needs and objectives identified by the participants. Typical subjects include:
  • Principles of Agile Project Management.
  • The role of the Project Manager - including planning, tracking and running Agile projects.
  • Review of typical failure modes for Agile projects.

Workshop leader

This workshop is led and facilitated by Allan Kelly, an experience software engineer and manager. He has successfully managed multiple Agile projects. Allan is the author of the book Changing Software Development: Learning to be Agile (2008), he holds BSc and MBA degrees and is PRINCE2 Practitioner certified.
